At Apollo Minerals we value transparency, commitment, teamwork, innovation and respect and we are committed to creating sustainable value that makes a real difference for all our stakeholders.
Through the application of our Code of Ethics and our Policies we seek to encourage and foster a culture of integrity, professionalism and responsibility in order to further build on our reputation as a valued employer, business partner and corporate citizen.
We seek to develop and maintain positive, enduring relationships with our host communities by striving for mutual understanding of each other’s needs and aspirations.
In accordance with the IFC Performance Standards and international best practice, the Company is currently designing a Stakeholder Engagement Plan tailored to the characteristics and interests of the local communities.
We support ongoing consultation with local communities and public authorities and will commit to communicate openly and transparently about activities that might affect host communities, including making available accurate and up to date information to allow effective decision making.
We have a responsibility to ensure that the social, economic and environmental impact of our investment in the region is positive. Examples of our commitment to this include:
- Co-founding a significant cultural heritage initiative, the Club de Mécènes Mines du Salat, to ensure the cultural and historical heritage of the Couserans province in the Ariege region continues to be upheld. Every restoration project that the CMMS commits to financing has the potential to create direct and indirect jobs
- Developing a Local Procurement Plan to assess local businesses capabilities and identify any potential opportunities to partner with them or other local organisations. The majority of work conducted on site to date has been done by local contractors and we are committed to continue supporting these small enterprises as development continues
- Preferentially hiring local residents and providing them with the specialist skills needed for the jobs the project will create
- Updating the local communities on upcoming or ongoing work programs through our blog (www.minesdusalat.fr) and our partnership with the local magazine, “L’Ariegeois”.
